Privacy for Auden.

Auden (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an iOS app that streams music from a media server that you own and control. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and the choices available to you.

Summary

• Auden has no developer-operated account system or backend. The developer does not receive or store your music, server credentials, library, listening history, or diagnostics.
• Auden contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or advertising identifier, and the developer does not sell personal data.
• Your music and library data stay on your devices and your own music server.
• Data leaves your device only to provide a feature: to your music server; to ListenBrainz if you enable scrobbling; and to Apple iCloud if you enable connection sync. Lyrics are never looked up online.
• External services process data under their own privacy policies. ListenBrainz associates listens with your account, makes listen data public, and uses it for recommendation work.

Data the app handles

Music-server credentials and session tokens

To connect to your music server, Auden stores the account name, password, and session information it needs in the iOS Keychain. Auden sends them only to your own server to authenticate or make an authorized request. Session IDs, DSM device tokens, certificate-trust decisions, and insecure-connection exceptions remain device-local and are never synced through iCloud.

You may enable Sync saved connections, an optional Auden Pro feature that copies saved passwords through iCloud Keychain to your other Apple devices. This is off by default and requires a separate confirmation. If Face ID / Touch ID is enabled, Auden asks for it in the app before reading a synchronized password; that application-level check is not the same as binding the iCloud Keychain item itself to biometric authentication.

Disconnect ends the current server session but deliberately keeps the saved connection and password so Auden can reconnect. Forget Connection removes that connection’s saved password and local trust settings; if saved-connection sync is enabled, Auden also removes the synchronized password copies from your other devices.

Music and library metadata

Track, album, artist, playlist, favorite, listening-history, and download data are read from your server and cached locally so Auden can work offline. This information is not sent to the developer. Audio files travel only from your server to your device for streaming or download.

Local network discovery

With your permission, Auden uses Bonjour on your local network to find a music server. Discovery stays on that network and is not sent to the developer.

Smart search

When Smart search is on, Auden builds a similarity index from your library’s titles, artists, and albums entirely on this iPhone. Search terms and the index are not sent to the developer or an external search service. Turning the setting off discards the index.

Diagnostics

Crash and hang reports produced by iOS stay in Auden’s storage on your device. Nothing is uploaded automatically. Settings → Diagnostics → Export diagnostics creates a file and opens the iOS share sheet; only you choose whether and where to send it.

Purchases and trial status

Auden Pro is a one-time, non-consumable In-App Purchase. Apple handles payment and the App Store transaction. Auden does not receive your card, billing address, or Apple Account details; StoreKit tells the app whether Auden Pro is active. A small trial-eligibility record is stored in the iOS Keychain so deleting and reinstalling the app does not start a new trial.

Optional features that contact external services

• Lyrics. Auden does not contact any lyrics service. Lyrics appear only when you paste LRC text or import an .lrc file yourself, and what you supply stays on your device. No song title, artist, album, or duration is sent anywhere for lyrics.
• ListenBrainz scrobbling. This is off until you provide and enable a ListenBrainz user token. Auden sends now-playing and completed-listen data, including title, artist, album, duration, and timestamp, to ListenBrainz. ListenBrainz associates listens with the account, makes listen data public, and uses it for recommendation work as described by the MetaBrainz privacy information. Auden stores the token in the iOS Keychain.

Optional iCloud connection sync

Sync connection profiles is an optional Auden Pro feature. When enabled, Auden stores non-secret connection profile information in your private iCloud CloudKit database so it can appear on your other Apple devices. That information includes the profile identifier, music-source type, display name, server address or QuickConnect configuration, account label, and sync metadata. It does not include playlists, favorites, listening history, app settings, audio, downloads, passwords, sessions, server-trust decisions, or the active connection. The built-in Demo Library profile is not synced.

Password sync is separate and is described under Music-server credentials and session tokens above. Apple handles CloudKit and iCloud Keychain data under Apple’s privacy policy.

Data the developer does not collect

Auden has no developer backend, analytics service, crash-reporting service, advertising SDK, IDFA access, or tracking pixel. Data processed only on the device, sent to your own server, or stored by Apple in your private iCloud is not accessible to the developer. The external services listed above receive data only when their corresponding feature operates.

Data retention, deletion, and revoking consent

• Use Forget Connection or delete a connection in Auden to remove its saved password and local connection data. If iCloud connection sync is enabled, deleting the connection also syncs that deletion. Turn off Sync saved connections to remove synchronized password copies after local copies are verified.
• Deleting Auden removes its app-container data, including caches, downloads, settings, and local diagnostics. iOS Keychain items can survive app deletion; this includes Auden’s trial-eligibility marker and may include saved credentials. Forget or delete connections before uninstalling if you want those credentials removed. Data already stored in iCloud must be removed through Auden’s sync controls or your Apple iCloud storage controls.
• Delete the ListenBrainz token in Auden to stop new listens. Use ListenBrainz account tools for listens already retained or published by ListenBrainz.
• Remove lyrics you imported from the Lyrics screen for that song.

Children’s privacy

Auden is not directed at children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change and the revised policy will be published at the same location. The current version is also readable inside the app at Settings → About → Privacy Policy.
